Former co-owner of Oregon City construction business sentenced in ...

The former co-owner of an Oregon City construction company has been sentenced to five years' probation for failing to send money to the government after collecting federal payroll taxes from employees.

Jeffry Daniel Goodrich of Estacada will have to serve his first year of probation in a residential reentry center. He also was ordered to pay more than $145,000 to the Internal Revenue Service and is barred from running a business.

U.S. District Judge Anna Brown sentenced Goodrich Wednesday in Portland.

Goodrich, 49, pleaded guilty last year to willfully failing to file payroll tax returns and remit payroll taxes for Eagles View Construction, a company he co-owned from October 2005 to September 2006, handling accounting and payroll.

Goodrich no longer works for the company.

In an unrelated case, Goodrich pleaded guilty to bank fraud in November 2005 in connection with altering checks from Eagles View Construction's customers, then depositing the checks in a personal bank account. In October 2006, he was sentenced to five months in federal prison, followed by five months of home confinement.
